Who I am...

I grew up and was educated in the North East of England and worked in finance and insurance until 1982 when my school friend Keith, Phil and me started running a club in Newcastle called the Soul Kitchen. This expanded into a record label and band management, and soon we were having success with Prefab Sprout, The Kane Gang, The Daintees and Hurrah! in UK, Europe, USA and Japan – if you want more information on this, go to www.kitchenwarerecords.com

In 1991 I swapped music management for music promotion and had seven great years producing ReZerection all night parties as a family business and partnership.

In 1998 it was a natural progression into event and music festival site/project management, and the family business continues to this day with my wife Anita, Vicki our daughter, her partner Sam and Philip our son and his partner Katherine. Our website www.aplevent.co.uk gives you an insight into what we do

A few years ago I completed a management training course which identified communication as a potential area for improvement.

From a number of consultants, I picked (or they picked me), a company who practised and trained NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming – they are PWA Unlimited with whom I trained Diploma, Practicioner, Advanced Practicioner and finally Master Practicioner.

Over the years I’ve worked with (and learnt from) individuals and teams from all walks of life; retirees, musicians, managing directors, sales and management teams, accountants, social workers, sports coaches...... etc, all as fascinating as each other – there are testimonials from some of these under the tab “What people say...”

My professional qualifications:

Member of INLPTA – International NLP Trainers Association

Member of NLPtCA – Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapy & Counselling Association

Member of ANLP International

Master Practitioner in NLP

Member of IOSH - Institute of Occupational Safety and Health

NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety

About Neuro Linguistic Programming, NLP

It was developed in the 70’s by the observation and modelling of eminent therapists of the time: Milton Erikson, Virginia Satir, Fritz Perl and Carl Rodgers. By analysing and defining their excellent skills and techniques, they were able to teach others the structure of their work

Over the years, NLP skills have been added to, changed, enhanced and refined, and now encompass a wide variety of Psychotherapies, business trainings and personal coaching techniques

For me, NLP opened a door inside me to a world I’d been blind to. It enabled me to make decisions and choices I’d never considered possible. It had a remarkable life changing effect, on me, my family and our business.

From what I've learned about me, I've been able to use with others; guiding them to learn more about themselves and revelling in what they find

The choices and decisions in life belong solely to us and are in our control, sometimes s**t happens – it’s how we react to the s**t that’s important

We don’t see things as they are; we see things as we are
